Zawadzkie Lake - The lake has an area of 96.63 hectares and reaches a maximum depth of 9.7 m. It's located near Zawady Ełckie village and is divided into a shallow northern part and deeper southern part. On the lake there is also a small island (0.5 ha). Surroundings are mainly farmland and settlements. Fish that you can find here: pike, perch, eel, catfish, perch, carp, crucian carp, tench, bream and roach.
Astonishing lands of forests located in northern part of Pojezierze Ełk, between Gołdapiowo Lake and Szeskie Hills. The area of forest covers 23000 ha of land and the most common tree types here are pine and spruce. There’s also many animal species live here such as deer, wild boar, moose, or wolves. A while ago it was a center for bison breeding. Wilderness areas are undulating and of varied landscapes, many peaks exceed 200 m above sea level, the highest one is Lipowa Gora (reaches 223.3 m). To the south of Red Mansions there are five beautiful lakes connected by the river Czarna Struga: Szwałk Wielki, Szwałk Mały, Pilwąg, Łaźno i Litygajno.
It is beautifully situated on the banks of Lega river, which is a part of tourist canoe routes. Until the manor house was privately owned it was a charming place, perfect for holidays destination. However, after the world war II it belonged to the organization called PGR, which made it lose its former manor character.
This place exists in memory of thirty-nine german soldiers and sixteen russian soldiers who died during World War I between 1914-1915. It is looked after by the National Association for the Care of German War Graves.
