Watermill in Straduny was built in nineteenth century, probably by the Germans. It once served as a water mill, and then as a magazine. It is a simple building, but located in a beautiful place perfect for photo shoots.
The building comes from XV-th century. In september 21st, 1736 there was a great fire that burnt down the whole village, including the large church library. But soon, thanks to the initiative of Pastor George Wasiański it was rebuilt with stone tower. At the top people placed a flag with the date of recovery. It’s worth to see some historical elements in the temple, such as: altar, organs, statues and sculptures.
Located in Straduny manor house is a very attractive holiday destination. It is situated amongst the scenic Masurian lakes and forests. The interiors have been restored with the aim of preserving the climate of East Prussia from late nineteenth century. It attracts the enthusiasts of relaxing in the atmosphere of old times.
It is a very popular tourist destination located in Elk Narrow Gauge Railway Museum. Visitors can gain some knowledge about the little-known profession of beekeeper. The owner, Mr. Lucjan Rozycki, has collected a lot of various exhibits, tools and supplies needed to do the job of beekeeper. Within the museum there is an interesting exhibition of various hives. Some carved in tree trunks, others nicely decorated.
